Question: 2008 Toyota Solara has hid headlamps on passenger side and halogen driver side, how to correct ?John F. / May 20, 2025
Hi John, thank you for reaching out. The 2008 Toyota Solara comes with an asymmetric headlight setup, featuring HID bulbs on the passenger side and halogen bulbs on the driver side. This mismatch is due to the factory design, where the passenger-side headlight assembly comes with HID low beams and the driver-side with halogen low beams. To correct this and achieve matching lighting on both sides, you can swap the passenger-side HID assembly with a halogen assembly to match the driver side halogen setup.—or retrofit an HID kit on the halogen side, though this is less ideal due to beam pattern and glare issues and more expensive. While a Philips® CANbusH7 Headlight Adapter can help with electrical compatibility and prevent error codes when upgrading bulbs, it does not address the fundamental difference in headlight assemblies. For the best results, matching headlamp assemblies are recommended to ensure proper lighting performance and safety.
