I was skeptical that I would get the right part for this price. I carefully opened the box thinking I may have to return the springs. Thank you CarParts.

what I really liked was that I needed the part & didn't have all the money together to outright buy the part, yet was able to use paypal credit to get the part right a way. the part was cheaper online than our small town parts store...

Helper springs were installed on my 2000 Tunda. Ride was better than before and more level when loaded. I would buy these springs again.

Easy install, over all satisfied with the looks. My truck doesn’t squat hauling a trailer. Instructions are really straight forward. Doesn’t give much details. Definitely recommend having a impact wrench to remove u bolts on leaf springs.

Question: I have a 2000 Ford F-150 Harley-Davidson edition with a tow capacity of 4,000, by how much will the helper springs increase the tow capacity?Carlos C. / Apr 07, 2022
Hi Carlos, I'm more than happy to help. Omar's answer is correct. Helper springs help provide greater control and stability, not increase the towing capacity. You can use the link below to order this if you are interested. Have a good one. https://www.carparts.com/helper-spring/hellwig/h63991?can=cpab2020_20220407

These springs will help with rear end sag due to hitch weight. It seems that 4,000 is kind of low for a full-sized truck. I wonder if the limit is that low because of the engine, transmission, or cooling system? Springs help with none of that of course.

The spring assist will not help your towing capacity at all. The fact that they keep your truck level under a load doesn't help the engine and transmission pull the weight.

Zero. These are not meant to increase tow capacity but to provide more stability with current tow limits.

Question: My leafs have flattened out.  Will this help with the recurving of my leafs?Todd W. / Dec 12, 2022
Hi Todd, I'm glad to assist you. No. This helper spring adds more load capacity but it does not correct or helps to rectify your sagging leaf springs. You need to replace your factory leaf springs with brand-new ones. For us to carefully check and be accurate on the part you need, please provide the complete information of your vehicle (year, make, model, submodel, and engine size). The VIN would be much helpful. I hope this helps.

They might have raised the rest end a bit on my old Yukon. They did however make the rest end a little more solid. I bought them because my rear leaf springs seemed weak, and these definitely helped.

Question: I have a 2003 toyota Tundra Limited 4 wheel drive... what is the difference between the 550 and 991? I pull a toy hauler camper that probably weighs about 5500 lbs when it is loaded with our camping stuff and a motorcycle or 4wheeler etc... sometimes I also put a 4 wheeler in the bed of my truck when towing. Which of these would work for me? thanks?Cort H. / Jul 28, 2022
Hi Cort, I'm pleased to assist you. The 550 has a load capacity of 500 lbs and 991 at 2000 lbs. Upon checking, we currently do not have helper springs for about 5000 lbs compatible with the 2003 Toyota Tundra. You may want to consider purchasing heavy-duty industrial-strength cleaning wipes, good to have around your home and garage. Click on the link below to see and order while supplies last. You'll get a 30-day post-purchase price match guarantee with your order. I hope this helps. Do you use a weight distributing hitch? That's one way to help with rear end sag. As for helper springs, think about the tongue weight of your trailer. Tongue weight is usually about 10 percent of total weight, so 500-600 pounds of tongue weight is being applied to your trucks trailer hitch. Therefore, the 500 pound helper springs should be just right.
