Works perfectly and at what I thought was a reasonable price. I accidentally ordered the wrong taillights as well and they were incredibly understandable and quick about my refund. Have ordered a couple items through this site and they have always showed up.

Hi Chris, I'm glad to help you out. The keys don't have chips. You can obtain the blank key with the chip from the GM dealer or an automotive locksmith. You can use this key as a cutting template. Answered by Max R. / Wed, Dec 01Question: Would I have to get a key programmed if I changed ignition switch on a 1997 Camaro 3.4 liter v6?Brian / Oct 10, 2022
Hi Brian, thank you for reaching out. Not if you will still use the same ignition lock cylinder. The ignition switch is different from the ignition lock cylinder. A new PASSkey© type key is required and is not included with this lock cylinder. It may be obtained at any automotive locksmith or GM vehicle dealership. You can use this link to go back to the item page and continue ordering the part at 57% off the regular price today: https://www.carparts.com/ignition-lock-cylinder/replacement/repc503913?can=CPAP3648_CSQA_20221010

Not if you have the original key. You merely take the resistance of it with an ohms meter and buy a resistor to match the ohms and solder it in the orange wrapped wires and it will start every time. You won’t have the vats anymore but you won’t have any more problems with your ignition key lock cylinder. It’s not very difficult to do at all if you’re mechanically inclined and can solder.
I hope this helps.

No, it is a kit, you can use a different wire, like from a old lamp.

Answered by Richie P. / Mon, Jun 27Question: Hi, I just bought a 91 camaro rs and I wont start. Originally it had chipped key and the guy replaced the key cylinder with a none chipped key cylinder. The car ran prior to me dropping the steering column to adjust the high/low beam switch. I have tested the ignition switch and the clutch pedal switch/button and they both work. I also replaced the starter relay. When I go to start the car the security light comes on in the dash. Is there something I'm missing? PLEASE HELP! Any information would be greatly appreciated.Chad M. / Mar 25, 2022
Hello! So the vehicle ran without a transponder chip, correct? Perhaps a wire was pinched or a connector wasn't fully seated when you lowered the steering column?
MD
If the key that started the car does not have a VAT chip in it, someone bypassed the system. Check out utube VAT bypass. When you dropped the column to repair hi/lo beam you broke the VAT connection. I have a 91 corvette. The connection is 12-15 inches from the ignition inline with the column under an access panel. Look for a red wire with a amateur splice. I know your frustration all too well
