Cheap but it worked!Ignition Lock Cylinder - Steering Column Mounting Location, With Keys
4.0/5
A few weeks back my key stopped working in my 2007 Hyundai Sonata - wouldn't turn to the ACC position, so couldn't start the car. It felt like the pins weren't engaging due to wear. I tried spraying lubricant, but no luck.
I decided to replace the ignition switch. This part definitely feels cheap (the key and pins in the lock make a lot of sound!) but for $34 I decided it was a worth the gamble. I plugged it in and it works! I am slightly concerned about the key strength, won't be cranking it hard so it won't break, but otherwise I'm happy!

These keys don't require programming it's simply removing old part and installing the new one it's a straight forward process I did it with no experience and a video on YouTube as guidance even though the video wasn't exactly the same model it still was smooth sailing no programing was needed

Answered by Donald / Mon, Jun 07Question: my 2007 Hyundai Sonata only starts if I jiggle the keys?Christopher / Aug 30, 2020
Hello Chris,
We highly recommend to have the vehicle diagnosed by a certified mechanic to pinpoint what part needs replacement.
AP
that was also the issue with my father's 2006 hyundai sonata gls...sometimes it would delay him as much as 20 minutes so about a year ago we finally decided to order the new cylinder and he claims it has worked perfectly ever since. Install took less than 5 minutes :)
