Hello! That is to help heat transfer. Put some on the back of the ignition module before installing it.

Hi Dawayne, thank you for reaching out. Yes, that's possible. A bad ignition module can also cause the vehicle to misfire, run rough, and sometimes cause overheat. We highly suggest that a certified mechanic diagnose the vehicle to pinpoint the part that needs replacement.
