My old part was all black not silver chrome. According to my local mechanic he thought the piece wouldn't fit. But it fit perfectly, now I'm up and running.

Yes, this is the one you want. Just installed one of these on a 1999 Crown Vic. They changed a bit for 2002-3. For a 2000 you’re all good.
