I must say they look good on my Silver 2006 MX5. Hope the finish (black) holds up over time. Black on silver looks good as original silver mirrors with the black soft top.

Miata RX5 Sport Passenger Mirror: Looks and performs just like original mirror. Time will tell about durability, but it looks and rotates solidly. My only concern is with the "paintable" aspect. I needed it painted Liquid Silver color to match car/other mirror. I found nothing in listing that said if a special primer was necessary before painting. The mirror had very good looking black finish, but I am not sure if the surface was the molded plastic or paint. I used 1000 grit wet n dry sand paper to prep the surface and sprayed it with the factory spec paint. The surface accepted the paint well and looks good. Time will tell if it should have had special plastic surface primer.

I can confirm that the mirror internal parts are swappable and it's possible to retain the OEM painted parts. It is however somewhat difficult to do for the first time and required making a special purpose tool to release the large internal spring. The new mirror internal components are different than the OEM mirror but are weather sealed and appear to be a better design. I would be hesitant to paint a new mirror without disassembling it but it still looks good if left black. I can recommend this mirror.

Answered by Jeonino E. / Fri, Feb 18It could be done but very difficult. There is a large spring inside with the proper tools you might be able to disassemble and reassemble it. I played with that idea but ended up buying matching spray
paint and painted the new mirror to match the car. Turned out great.
