Hi Robert,
As the picture shows, one side has got a small hanger and uses a bolt and screw for attachment. This muffler needs to be welded to the pipes.

Hi Robert,
They are interchangeable. It depends on how the original muffler is set up on the vehicle. Whichever side can be inlet and outlet on this part.
