When i replaced my oil pump it was a bit of a pain to make it fit, you gotta make sure the pump is seated all the way against the front of the engine, and then as long as you have the right parts, everything should come together with a little bit of prying. Have you watched videos of the pump replacement to see if anything is off?

just need to push the O ring in hard make sure lube it first
