I have an older model truck and I'm chasing down an issue so I don't need to be spending hundreds of dollars on one part. The MAF sensor was just the right price for me to do process of elimination.

There are many things that can cause rough idling however the mass airflow sensor is required to tell the computer how much air is coming into the motor and adjust the fuel flow. I did change mine out and noticed an improvement. Make sure you do not have contaminated fuel you may want to put a can of seafoam in your gas tank, it will clean your fuel system

I had the same issue in my 2005 Chevy Silverado. After doing some online research I found that this was most potentially my problem so I purchased this part. It was easy to replace and only took about 10 minutes and it fixed the issue.

Question: if i put the air flow sensor on my truck it will make my engine service sign light go off ?Gary S. / Aug 27, 2021
Hi Gary, I'm glad to assist you. Yes, a scan tool would clear the error once it is replaced. If a diagnostic was done using a scan tool and the resulting specific code shows a Mass air flow sensor problem, replacing it should solved the problem. It is best to have your vehicle diagnosed with the right tools and with an experienced or a certified mechanic to properly address the problem. Once confirmed on your end that you need this one. The check engine light may go off after 100 plus miles but you would be better off purchasing an OBD Code reader to clear it after repairs have been addressed.

Yes if that's the code it's showing. You may need a code reader to clear it off.

That depends if the mass airflow sensor is what’s causing the CEL to go off

Yes, unless it is a late 2003 model labeled as a 2004. The 2003's have a Throttle Body that will need to be cleaned to resolve your loss of power issue.
