Bilstein Installation Kit....NOT A UNIVERSAL FIT!Front, Driver Or Passenger Side Shock, B6 Series

2005 Toyota Tundra SR5 2wd extended cab / The quality of these struts/shocks is unquestionably top rate but...…..included installation hardware was not right for my particular application. Had to clean & re-use some of the original metal washers as those provided were not right/did not fit. Rubber bushings looked nothing like the OEM stuff. It took some time to figure out this installation. Double checked Bilstein item numbers & fitment guides to insure I had the proper shocks/struts....I did! This took the longest time of any shock/strut installation in 50 years of working on vehicles. Challenging! I DO NOT BLAME JCWHITNEY FOR THIS PROBLEM I ENCOUNTERED!

Question: Lower bushings on, 2002 Toyota Tundra limited 4.7 engine truck, front shocks are dry rotted and the sleeve has moved up to the top of the body support - there does not appear to be any exterior fluid leakage. Can the lower bushing be replaced or does the entire unit need to be replaced. Is there a warranty on the shocks. The truck has 361,000 miles on it and these are the original equipment shocks The rear shock do not like appear to be external worn - no fuild leakage, the bushings are starting to appear some what dry rotted as well. The truck has been a free way flyer most of its' traveling live, 90% plus miles at highway speeds with little stopping.
With the above information, does the set of shocks need to be replaced?James V. / Mar 11, 2021

Considering that the vehicle is 19 years old, I would suggest having it changed but, there are factors to be considered like the ride (coils), does the truck carry a lot of weight, and your brand preference.
