Starter Drive still MalfunctioningStarter, New, Qb Supreme
1.0/5
Well, had my local mechanic install a new starter on my truck because the starter drive was not engaging from time to time, and today I will be taking it back, because the new starter drive is doing the same thing as the old starter/drive. :(

Question: I also have the same problem, with a 2005 Silverado 2500 HD LT eight cylinder 6.6 L Duramax the starter grinds and fails to start occasionally. Has anyone determined the true problem? Because it seems common.MICHAEL V. / Dec 25, 2020
Hi Michael,
This starter is guaranteed to fit the 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD LT 8 Cyl 6.6L. When the starter drive gear is worn out or not engaging properly, it will often produce a grinding noise. This is similar to the one that is heard if you start your engine and then accidentally action the ignition switch again. If the grinding symptom is ignored, it may also result in damage to the engine flywheel.
