I went through this a few months ago, and while it seemed from the online description that it would fit my 2002 Ford Ranger ext cab XlT, it did not - half a foot too small. It had already shipped when I heard from customer service that it would not fit, so weeks went by shipping it back ( unopened - I measured the box) and eventually resolving it. Best to get actual dimensions -

Mine came in a heavy duty cardboard box and inside the tailgate was supported with foam to stabilize it within the box. If it arrives and the box is not damaged, accept it and the item should be good. If the box is damaged you can refuse it or process the return as Jeonino stated. Mine arrived pristine. If you open the undamaged carton and there is a bit of damage you can still return it and probably get it cross shipped to save time. That is still delay but it beats spending time and materials to try to repair the new part plus if you attempt to repair it you will likely loose the ability to return it.

Packed in a very thick box if box hS damage, don't accept it, or call customer service, they are great!

Yes it fits but it does not come with any of the hardware or cables installed. You will have to transfer everything over from the original tailgate and/or replace damaged parts.
