Question: some exhaust solenoids have a plastic clip on one end what is it needed for 2014 malibu 2.5 ?john P. / Mar 12, 2022
Hi John, I'm glad to assist you. This one has a plastic socket connector on the tip, however. This is a variable timing solenoid. Just make sure this is the exact part that you need. Answered by Jeonino E. / Sat, Mar 12I am by no means a mechanic however I did run into this exact issue. After watching several YouTube videos I had the same concern regarding the plastic cap and where/which/if it was needed. I ended up taking the original factory solenoids one at a time and matching it to the new one I purchased. The original solenoid(s) only had one that had the plastic cap on it. So to my knowledge only one them should have it. If you purchase the product in pairs make sure the one has the plastic clip. Don’t mess around with trying to take the old cap off and placing it on the new solenoid. I hope this helps.

Hello! P2646 would indicate an issue with the Engine Variable Valve Timing (VVT) Oil Control Valve, Dorman part number 918-806. Unfortunately we do not currently sell that part.
