Even after using a vice and vice clips, the thing will not hold a thinner shape.

Buy GM Part InsteadHelp Series Door Check - Direct Fit, Sold Individually

The diameter for the mounting pin hole is too small for the plastic bushing used with the original GM part, causing me to damage the bushing when trying to move it over. I finally installed the Dorman check strap without the plastic bushing, only to have the Dorman part's latch tension soften after several weeks of use. Now it won't hold the door open. I'm going back to an original GM check strap, but am now waiting for a replacement plastic bushing which is on back order. Totally wasted money with Dorman!
