Hi Shawn, I'm glad to assist you. The door would still be needed to be removed for proper installation of this door hinge. Actually other people use a garbage bin, the big hard plastic one to hold off or support the door and no need to remove it from that exact location. Answered by Jeonino E. / Mon, Jun 21For my 2015 GMC Acadia we had to remove the front door because there was no way to get to it from the other side to access the bolts. With a 2nd pair of hands to help remove the door it was a pretty simple removal and install. If installing on a rear door it might be possible to replace it by supporting the weight of the door and removing and swapping out the door hinge because with the front door open you have access to the inside of the rear door where you could loosen and tighten the bolts, but I only replaced the front door hinge on my Acadia.
