Hi Stuart,
The exterior door handle is installed from the outside but it is bolted on the inside and hooked up to the connecting rods for the key and the door latch assembly. You will have to remove the door panel and panel insulation plastic to remove first the old defective door handle by removing the bolt from the back portion inside the door. Still, it is best to consult a trusted vehicle specific repair manual for clear specific steps how to do the replacement.
