The Grille Assembly for my 02 Avalanche 1500 Z71 with Cladding fit better than expected for an aftermarket product. Once installed I was pleased with the look, I would purchase again. I would suggest adding some type of protective filler to the box before shipping, the parts were loose and shifting around inside the box.

In the review replies when asked if the grill came with new hardware the reply said it didn't. So, I purchased all new hardware, which wasn't cheap, my grill came with the hardware. Grill is black plastic, not painted. Came in multiple pieces that needed assembly.

Answered by Andrew B. / Sat, Oct 08I had the same issue when I ordered a new grill for my '02 Avy as well. I wanted black also but all that was available was the chrome. I went to buy some Krylon Fusion but it turned out that the hardware store I went to didn't stock Krylon paint. I did however happen to run across a different brand though and decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did. It was Rust-Oleum Universal Advanced Formula Satin Black, spray paint and primer in one. It covered over the chrome really nicely and gave it a pretty smooth look. I sprayed the bowtie from my old grill as well and stuck it on the new one. The cans have a trigger rather than a push cap to spray with which make them easy and comfortable to use and you can spray from any angle. I liked it so much I ended up repainting all of my cladding with it. I also did the rear bumper, sail fins, storage box lids, tonneau covers over the bed and the side tow mirror cases as well. The truck looked close to brand new again and I was really happy with it. Thats been nearly two years now and it still looks great as if I just sprayed it yesterday. Hope this helps.
