The sticky foam is probably for insulation only when the grille was packaged. Or it is used for or on the edge lining of the grille insert. Still, it is best to consult a trusted vehicle specific repair manual or your local automotive shop/dealership for that particular foam material.

Answered by Jeonino E. / Mon, Oct 19The sticky foam strip runs along the top edge of the grille where it mates to the front clip, probably to stop squeaks while driving. The original part I removed had the same foam strip. When you remove your grille, look at it and it's clear where to apply the foam strip.
