Question: how do you tell difference between halogen and hid units ???mark K. / Jul 24, 2020
Hi Mark, The lights are significantly brighter and whiter ( sometimes with a bluish shade to it ) on the HID headlights compared to the regular halogens which are the usual yellowish type.

Question: I heard some say you have to remove the bumper to install …is that correct?mark b. / Aug 15, 2021
Hi Mark, I'm glad to help you out. Yes. That is correct. You need to remove the front bumper cover of the Cadillac CTS in order to install the headlights. Take advantage of the sale price and limited stocks for this item. Click this link to order this part: https://www.carparts.com/headlight/replacement/set-repc100101?can=CPAP3648 I hope this helps. DaveM I got both of my headlights out and didn’t have to take bumper off. Look around carefully and you will need a 3/8” extension to get inboard side of headlights. Take two bolts to bumper assembly off around latch and pull plastic back enough to stick a 2x4 between bumper and radiator support. Don’t be scared it won’t break. A little turning and pulling they will come out and everything will line up going back together.

That is correct, on both the CTS and CTS-V vehicles the bumper has to dropped in order to reach the headlight assembly boltsx3 to remove. U can find a video on Utube that shows the step by step procedure. Pretty straight forwards. If you dont have a lift, a jack and jack stands work great. Hope this helps

It’s really easy I just did it yesterday and it only took about 30 mins. Just be careful not to break the little push pins and make sure the bumper is over the inside cover before you lock it in.

Yes, it’s not a difficult task. A few clips and bolts, then the entire front grill and bumper comes off. The only way to have access to the headlight bolts.

Question: How can you tell if your car has hid built headlights?Edwin R. / Sep 29, 2020
Hi Edwin, Your car's owner's manual should state the type of headlight assembly you have. Also, several indicators are if you have the square electrical ballast/igniter component at the back of the headlight for HID types. Also, there is a small embossed bulb model on the headlight lens lower portion if H11, H7 or D2S type. For the halogen type, at the back, you will not see a square ballast component, just a wiring harness with socket direct connected to the bulb terminals. You can also check with your nearest dealership and provide your VIN number so they can give you what type of headlight you have.

Question: I’m very concerned. Purchased these for my 2011 CTS-V - adaptive HID - and I’m wondering if they will work?Steve / Mar 19, 2021
Hi R, These headlights have a Halogen light source and not HID. Since you have HID, you should search for HID Light sources (since they cannot be interchanged). Upon checking, we currently do not have in stock the direct-fit HID headlights for the vehicle.

The Adaptive Forward Lighting (AFL) HID lights unfortunately are dealer only parts right now.

My vehicle is a 2011 CTS4 these headlights did fit and do work properly in my car. With one exception I now have a error message of AFL lamp error code on my display and will have to take to the Cadillac dealership to figure out what this means.
