Question: Where is this part located and how to install?Cedric J. / Nov 20, 2020
Hi Cj,
The heater valve is usually located on the inlet or the outlet port of the heater core and activated by a cable, electronic control, or a vacuum signal. For step by step instructions on how to install the part, please follow the link below;

It is located upon opening of your hood. Centrally located to be more specific. This is 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 speaking. It is spliced into a rubber hose and fairly easy to install. It took me about 15-20 min from your exact starting point of not knowing even its location. Don't worry, you can definitely repair this yourself and can access a related YouTube video to walk you though it if having doubts.

Hi Michael, I'm glad to assist you. To be 100% accurate, please consult with your trusted local auto repair shop mechanic for specific details of the Heater control valve. We do have a repair manual, with part number 30065. This is by Haynes's publication. However, this is currently out of stock. You can check the Haynes part number if it is available on some other websites I hope this helps.

Answered by steve K. / Sun, Jul 03Question: Is this valve closed or open with NO vacuum applied ?Brian E. / Feb 03, 2022
Hi Brian,
On your vehicle, the front water valve is a normally-open valve. When vacuum is applied to the valve, the actuator closes the valve, and coolant flow through the heater core is stopped.

Question: What purpose does this serve what does it do?Jay Bird / Jul 27, 2021
Hi Jason, I'm glad to help you out. The heater valve is used to control the rate at which coolant flows through the heater core. A faulty heater valve may not be able to properly control coolant flow to the heater. You can click on the link below to order at 43% off the regular price while supplies last. I hope this helps. Happy shopping.
