Question: Is this actuator for the driver’s side?Marc M. / Mar 11, 2021
Hi Marc,
This is the main actuator and it services both sides.
GG
BOTH! BUT IS ACCESSED THROUGH PASSENGER SIDE OF CAR! Controls WHERE the fan blows by moving actuator door! Also you can verify this part is defective in cat by first observing whether or not it is moving when dash control is switched. If not moving this item is bad, if it is moving the blend door is jammed or broken!

I believe I used screws from the original unit in our enclave! Is a fairly easy job once you get situated and use a long extension for top screw.

Hi,
The details of this part says "Main HVAC Heater Blend Door Actuator, Temperature, Air Inlet", it does not say driver side. But if your blend door actuator is a bit positioned on the driver side. This is what you need.

My husband put it on the drivers side of my 2011 GMC Acadia. It works great.

Answered by Anthony / Mon, Jan 11Question: Does this control where it blows? My defrost don't work because it won't blow up topChristina / Oct 26, 2020
Hi Christina,
The blend door actuator controls the temperature and the flow of the air in a car. If your car is only releasing cold air, or if you are not able to change the airflow, it may be because of a malfunctioning actuator. Sometimes, the fix needs recalibration, and sometimes you need to replace the part that is broken.
Still, we recommend referring to a trusted vehicle specific repair manual for details about troubleshooting, diagnostic and repair. Still, it is best to consult your trusted local auto repair shop or dealership for this as well if you need to. You can find more information here as well: https://www.carparts.com/blog/why-you-should-always-consult-a-repair-manual/

For me, it was only blowing up top and defrost as the Actuator was stuck in the down position. This was the second one I have had to replace. The other was where it was blowing hot air on the driver side when the A/C was on. This was because the Actuator was stuck open for heat the driver side.
I would try to disconnect the battery for like 10 seconds so it resets everything first before buying the Actuator. This sometimes gets it out of the stuck position. Mine was completely frozen up and you could physically move it by hand (after removal) so this told me it had to be replaced.

Answered by Eric D. / Mon, Oct 26Yes it controls where the air is directed to and if you have dual controls there will be one on each side of the vehicle

Answered by Michael M. / Mon, Oct 26Question: 2011 Enclave air/heat works fine but will not switch to defroster. I was told I needed to replace the actuator, is this the correct part?BAMA_BOY / Oct 14, 2020
Hello! It's quite likely that this blend door actuator is your problem, however, I have seen cases where the door itself has broken. The actuator is a far easier repair though, and may be worth trying just in case
MD
It is not the blend door actuator!!!! I had the same issue, it was only blowing out of the dash vents and would not blow for defrost or down to the floor, the heater works fine it just wouldn't blow anywhere else but the dash and that is because it was stuck there!!! It is an actuator, but it is called a mode actuator or mode door actuator and that controls which vent you want your air or heat to come out of, there are actually 4 different actuators associated with the HVAC system and they all look very similar and basically alike, but they are not, They all serve a different purpose so you need to make sure that your getting the right one for the problem you are having
