Motorcraft Oe Replacement Ignition Lock Cylinder
5.0/5
The part I ordered came quickly. Easy replacement and works perfectly. I tried cheap aftermarket part and was unusable in a few months. I never thought I’d find an oem part for my 30 year old vehicle. Very happy with my purchase. I recommend car parts.

Question: Why doesn't this come with keys? How will it work without the key?Merv / Jun 02, 2025
Hi Marvin, I'm glad to assist you. The Motorcraft SW6383 ignition lock cylinder is designed for vehicles without transponders or chipped smart keys. It is a standard mechanical lock tumbler and does not support chip (transponder) keys on its own. For us to check carefully and be accurate on the part you need, please provide the complete details of your vehicle (year, make, model, submodel, and engine size). We recommend you call our parts specialist for real-time, live, and immediate assistance on our toll-free number, 1-866-529-0412 (Monday through Sunday).

Question: Will this lock tumblers work with chip keys?Jon F. / Mar 08, 2025
Hi Jon, I'm glad to assist you. No, it is incompatible. The Motorcraft SW6383 ignition lock cylinder is designed for vehicles without transponders or chipped smart keys. It is a standard mechanical lock tumbler and does not support chip (transponder) keys on its own. As per the selected vehicle application, we do not carry an ignition lock cylinder that is compatible with keys that have the chip (anti-theft, PATS - Passive Anti-Theft System).

Question: If my cylinder is broken and pins are missing can a manual place the pins to make the key work?Bob / May 07, 2024
Hi Bob, Thank you for initiating contact. Yes, an ignition lock cylinder can be repaired if the tumblers/pins have fallen out, but it requires careful attention to detail and patience. Replacing the entire cylinder or ignition assembly is generally the recommended solution. Question: Do I need to get key programmed if I purchase this replacement lock cylinder?Jimmy / Sep 24, 2022
Hi Jimmy, I'm glad to assist you. It comes with some instructions. This requires disassembling the original cylinder. You are going to carefully remove that same combination of pins from the old cylinder and put them in order as you remove them, you are going to look for the new pins that are the same as the ones you removed and you are going to make the same original combination of the key, put in the same order as the old ones, then assemble the new cylinder in the same order as the original. You can now use the new cylinder with your original keys. Grab our sale price with 56% off already. Click the link below to buy today.
