Works - perfect replacement and just as advertised. Shipping took a little longer than expected, Appears it was handed off to several agencies the last one being USPS. Packaging was good. No instructions included so I just took a few pictures of the old actuator for reference.

Question: So my liftgate door on my 2011 Jeep Liberty will NOT lock when I lock all the doors. Is this the part I need to be able to lock the liftgate too? (The Liftgate Lock Actuator)Billy P. / Dec 29, 2022
Hi Billy, thank you for reaching out. It is possible, but we suggest having the vehicle diagnosed by a mechanic to be certain. Have a good one.

Yes this common problem with jeeps. the fix is to replace it, but there is an issue with the wrong part being shown on this website. The picture above is for a door lock actuator, not a lift gate actuator. I ordered one and had to return it and get the correct part somewhere else.

The tailgate on my 2014 patriot would lock but not unlock, changed the actuator, problem solved. Billy; this should solve your problem also.

I have a 2011 Grand Cherokee 3.6L, and I was having the same issue. It turned out that the actuator was not the issue, however the issue was with a relay in the engine compartment. On the passenger side of the engine compartment, there is a box with relays just behind the main fuse box. Use your key fob to lock and unlock the doors to see which relay is responsible for the locking of the rear hatch, and swap with an adjacent relay. All the relays in that compartment are the same, so simple swapping should let you know if the relay is the issue or something else. If you determine that the relay was not the issue, there should be a small access panel on the backside of the hatch that you can access from the interior, so you will have to crawl into the back and pry the cover off and manually pull the cable to release the hatch.

There is a small rectangular piece of plastic that pops off the rear hatch panel where the actuator is located. You have to crawl into the cargo area and pop it off. Then use a screwdriver to turn the white actuator visible through the pop off hole. You manually turn the actuator to open the door

Crawl to the back and open the plastic cover on the middle of the lift gate towards the bottom. With a flat head screwdriver turn the white plastic knob left or right and that will open it manually.

Only one. If you have tailgating speakers then you will have to remove the 4 screws behind them as well. Straight forward instillation.

Yes, my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee has a single actuator for the rear lift gate. I expect that would be the case for all makes/models.

Question: I have a 2010 Jeep Liberty, the top glass that attached to the trunk will not close on the hinge attached to the trunk. Any part recommendations? My car says that the gate is open even if the actual trunk itself is closed. Just the top glass part won't stay put.Monroe P. / Dec 12, 2023
Hi Monroe, I'm pleased to assist you. If there are no issues with the latch and hinge mechanisms, then replacing the liftgate lock actuator is a reasonable approach. The liftgate lock actuator is responsible for controlling the locking and unlocking of the liftgate, and a malfunction in this component can lead to problems like the one you described.
