let me put it this way; it gives you a wider more panoramic view. it adjusts separately from the top mirror. it allows you to better see what is in the lane right beside you.

Hi Cameron, There is no need for cutting. This mirror is a direct fit OE (Original Equipment ) replacement. These are plug and play, just remove the old one and put in the new one.
