Don’t throw your transmission away yetNeutral Safety Switch
5.0/5
Working great so far. People should really try this part. Dark transmission fluid was changed a few times from drain bolt. Had a bad pop when the car was first crunk up, sometimes barely wanted to go, and had bad slippage. Learned to let the car warm up 30 min, cut off and crank back up. Then transmission seemed to work properly. On YouTube found a clip of hydaui owner with similar problems, showed that it’s the motor that’s jerking and could cause acceleration problems. Basically saying the car doesn’t know what gear it’s in. Some cars have manual neutral safety switch with cable attachments but my car had an electric plug in. The Honda book calls it a gear position safety switch. Try this could solve your transmission problem

Question: Does this fit a 2002 acura tl type s ?John B. / Feb 18, 2021
Hi John,
No, this is not compatible. We have the correct one for the 2002 Acura TL Type-S models under part number SINS648, or here's the link: https://www.carparts.com/neutral-safety-switch/standard/sins648?&vehicle[cylinders]=6&vehicle[liter]=3%2E2&vehicle[submodel]=Type-S&vehicle[model]=TL&vehicle[make]=Acura&vehicle[year]=2002

Try to find a copy of the service manual for your model and year then you can definitively verify if the part will fit.

Answered by Tim P. / Thu, Feb 18Question: What will happen if this is disconnected will my car run without it?
\vincent h. / Dec 01, 2021
Hello! I would imagine it will start and run, but not drive, as it won't send the signal to put your transmission into "drive"
MD
Yes it just doesn’t lock your shifter so you can push it outbid gear easily
