They do not replace leaf springs. These coil over shocks will give you a stiffer ride for better control of the vehicle.

Yes, the four shocks all have loadbearing coil springs around them, sometimes referred to as coil-overs. The springs are not adjustable. The reason for the coil springs is to allow for heavier loads to be carried or for towing. Expect a firmer ride, with less body roiling on corners. If you are not going to haul trailers or carry extra weight that is over the standard load capacity specks for your Chevy truck, then they will not suit your purposes and standard factory shocks will work better.

I installed a set of four on my 1981 K5 with a snow plow for more load capacity. Noticed a more stable ride and raised the unloaded ride height 1/2 to 3/4”.
