What is this used for? It appears to be a metal sleeve screwed over the top of the plug to protect it from oil leakage or any other contaminants. I have never heard of such an adapter before. Is there any good reason to use these even if your plugs are okay? Do they protect the plugs from any future leakage that goes unnoticed before it can get too severe? Can it aid with car’s performance at all? After these are attached, it seems that in the future, you would remove these plugs by unscrewing these adapters rather than the actual plugs themselves. So I guess you are protecting these plugs from any damage during installation or removal. Thank you.Franklin S. / Jun 10, 2021
Hi Franklin, I'm glad to help you out. They are meant to repair stripped-out threads in the cylinder head for a spark plug, and once they've been installed, they do not come back out. They are basically a replacement for the threads the spark plug used to screw into. I hope this helps and happy shopping.
