Answered by Mitchell D. / Fri, Apr 08I seriously doubt it. This part on my truck has been out for years and the truck runs fine, just no speedometer. Mine Is a manual trans though. Automatics may be different. Sounds to me like a fuel issue possibly. Perhaps at high rpm the fuel pump is not supplying the proper pressure to the injectors. If it were me I would start with a fuel pressure test and check your results against the factory specs. It’s impossible to know without looking at it buts that’s where I would start.
