Had to Bend Part of My DoorDirect Fit Tailgate Actuator, Sold Individually

I had a problem where my previous LA was not unlocking all the way. During the replacement process I identified a piece of steel that the LA was scraping on and bent it out of the way. Now it works flawlessly.

This piece was spot on. I did not expect the quality. It came with rivits but I don't have a Rivit gun but it also came with brackets that accept screws but no screw. No big deal easy day with tools.

This item worked for 5 years then failed.Direct Fit Tailgate Actuator, Sold Individually

This is the second time that I had to replace the rear doorlock actuator for my 1999 Chevy Suburban. Fortunately I had purchased a bunch of the same actuator for this same vehicle, but had kept these in storage. For comparison, here I list the longevity of the doorlock actuators in my vehicles:
1. 1996 Ford F-150: OEM still working well for 19 years and counting, never changed.
2. 1999 Chevy Suburban Front Driver door: OEM lasted 10 years.
3. same Suburban, Rear door: OEM 10 yrs, then replacement lasted 5 years.
4. same Suburban, Front Passenger door: OEM 16 yrs.
So, my recommendation would be, buy a bunch for a rainy day. or go for the OEM item (costing hundred more).
