I would suggest purchasing LED replacement lights. The original filament bulbs produced enough heat to melt the plastic lens and form cracks. Both cargo lights did that. Rain water was coming in and wetting the headliner and back seat. The LED lights will not produce that kind of heat and will last a lot longer.

Question: So this will be the 4th time I have had to purchase this item due to leaking I don't know if any were Dorman but twice I purchased from Ford and once aftermarket why is it that they fatigue so quickly? No matter what I do the seal always fail! They usually get a hairline crack near the screwholes and I DO NOT overtighten. Are your units made of better quality?Charles R. / Nov 09, 2022

Replaced mine due to hail damage but I haven't had any issues with leaking around the seal, could it be a slight dent in the cab? Possible solution could be to apply a bead of urethane sealer on the gasket to help it seal against the cab. As for the cracks in the plastic it's likely due to a combination of heat transfer from the bulbs and UV rays from the sun and the type of plastic not being able to withstand the effects.

Addition of a bead of rubber cement on screw holes solved any leakage experienced with the brake light. I also applied the cement to the cab roof sheetmetal screw holes. Frequent high pressure car washes are uneventful now. No fog or water after two years of service.

It comes with the gasket seal. It also comes with the wiring harness. Problem with the wiring harness is Ford on my 2007 F150 placed the plug so far back from the opening it couldn't be replaced without removing the headliner. I just replaced the third brake light using the original harness.
