Answered by Grace G. / Wed, Sep 07It does not sit on the rail. It sits inside the bed with about 8 inches or so on both sides. I bolted it to the bed through the bottom of the tool box per the instructions. It would probably fit between the wheel wells to give you an idea of how wide it is.
