That being said, if you’re replacing this because of oil consumption issues, it didn’t really help mine. 2013 GMC Sierra 1500 4wd with the 5.3L V8 (325Ci) Vin(7) motor. I’ve tried everything from replacing the valve cover, buying and installing a range device to deactivate AMF, installed a an oil catch can. Still burning oil. I’m experimenting with Royal Purple synthetic high mileage oil and Lucas high mileage oil additive now. We’ll see if this helps at all.

Hi Joe, I'm glad to assist you. No, there is no hole provision on a vehicle's valve cover for adding engine oil. The valve cover is a protective cover that sits on top of the engine's cylinder head. The engine oil is added through a hole in the engine block located on the top of the engine, near the front or back of the engine. This hole is with an oil filler cap which is removable.
