If you are doing a windshield replacement, get a real one.
I got this to do a replacement without doing the windshield, because the old piece on my truck was busted up. I trimmed off the anchor and then sealed in with RTV. Works pretty well. Also you are going to have to trim the ends to fit, but on the plus side it was too big, not too small.
It's also fake chrome strip, not real metal like the original. We will see how it holds up, might actually be better.

Answered by Jeonino E. / Mon, Jul 19Hey just FYI, to properly install this your windshield needs to actually be removed. The windshield is basically calked in and that seal is set. This trim piece has a T shapped insert on the back that sets into the calk seal when you are installing the windshield, basically it's glued in.
I just trimmed off the T foot and then used RTV to glue it in place. Not the cleanest install in the world, but I had the same problem with the top seal degrading, and was not ready to replace the entire windshield. If you go this route, be aware you run the risk of rust around the windshield frame; personally I think sealing the way I did is for sure better than leaving it open to the elements.
