The only reasons it may not fit would most likely be you reservoir may have lightly warped or minor damage from overheating. Or the cap isn't being placed or removed wrong.
Those goofy North Star motors are disgraceful. There known for huge problems constantly after 120,000 miles. I'm glad they finally retired North stars.
