Bought this for an old 1992 G20 I am restoring. Came in almost perfect, but nothing worth truly complaining about. It had a small dent (less than the size of a dime) on one of the rounded edges. The dent did not chip any paint. And a little bit of uncoated metal on the inside of the neck that connects to the filler tube. Overall was happy with the quality.

Question: Hello, recently I went up hill pretty hard on my G20 91 Chevrolet and hit the fuel tank pretty hard on the pavement and now it’s leaking.
It’s very visible, are their any other parts I will have to replace other than the tank?Lucé L. / May 16, 2022
Replacing your rear gas tank requires as a minimum a new gas tank. The old tank consists of the tank and sending unit that is mounted on top of the tank. You can reuse the old sending unit but recommend using new gaskets for the reinstall. Or you can order a new sending unit with the gas tank that comes with new gaskets. Also make sure you order the right size as I believe there is a choice of two sizes.

I went ahead and replaced the straps when I replaced the tank on my 1995 G30. Seemed like a cheap option for some piece of mind and the guys doing the work appreciated it as well.

check the tank straps for rust. They are rather thin, and a little rust weakens them.
Other than that, look for damaged hoses or banged-up level sender, and you should be good.
