Just bought this receiver so i don't know how well it performs yet, but it looks tough. Installation on '79 ford bronco did require some drilling, as expected. Did not expect to have to "fish" bolts through, over and around gas tank with less than 1" opening to get through. Total install time: 3.5 hours. Well worth it.

This is a very solid hitch and I installed it in 1/2 hour once I got the right one. The first one they sent was for a cab & chassis-only model, which was 2" too short and did not fit. I went to the Curt website and picked out the correct model number. JC Whitney sent me the correct one, it arrived in less than 2 days, and now I'm towing and pulling stumps. Customer service is great, just wish I had ordered thru them in the first place.

With two people, the installation was fairly easy considering the hitch weighs between 40 to 50 pounds.
The problem was that I had to modify some of the hardware to get it to fit properly. And it wasn't the truck that the hardware didn't fit... it was the hitch (that the hardware came with) that the hardware didn't fit.
Mostly it was just a matter of grinding until everything fit, but the they should have fit properly to begin with.

Question: Is this the best hitch for a ford transit 2018? Or would you recommend another? We plan to use it primarily for a light weight trailer, bike rack that could fit 4-6 bikes, and maybe one day a camperJosh L. / Jun 21, 2020
Yes, Josh. This is the best hitch we can recommend for a 2018 Ford Transit.
