Question: This says it will fit my 2005 civic ex but in the description it says it holds 5 qts? For my oil change I use about 3.5-3.75 qts. Its a 1.7L vtec, (D17a2) engine.Nathan P. / Jan 04, 2021
Hi Nathan, This fits 2001-2005 Honda Civic EX 4 Cyl 1.7L (1668cc engine) with 5 qt capacity.

Hey Nathan. Not sure about the oil capacity spec but I just installed one of these on an 04 civic ex. Seemed to have all the same dimensions. Everything bolted up as should and clearance existed between the exhaust.

This is the aluminum oil pan for EX models only and does not use a traditional gasket. Instead use a liquid applied gasket such as HondaBond. I really wish the seller would put that in the description.

I would advise not using a gasket and using RTV. That’s how the factory does it. Gaskets are a crapshoot.

Question: Is gasket included?Bossman / Mar 20, 2021
Hi Angel, This does not include the gasket (this fits the submodels EX/HX/GX/EX Special Edition only for the 2001 to 2005 Honda Civic 1.7L). As per checking, this oil pan is for the EX submodel only. We actually have a kit of oil pan and gasket for the submodels- LX/DX/Hybrid/Value Package of 2001 to 2005 Honda civic 4 cyl 1.7L. Please follow the steps below to double check the part you need. On the homepage, please enter your application, simply select your vehicle’s year, make, model, sub-model, and engine size and click “Go.” Once your application is selected, type the name of the part you need on the top search box(type "Oil Pan") and press enter. Once the part shows up on your screen, you’ll see a “Guaranteed to Fit, Direct fit” note/badge (in round green icon with a white check mark) if the part will fit 100%, and we recommend that you also double-check your vehicle fit details as well as the vehicle fitment information table on the product page.

This does not include the gasket, and that’s because at the Honda factory, they used RTV. And be ready to spend a lot of time trying to clean that up. I had to get a special gasket from a mechanic. But in hindsight I should have just used RTV.

No, this is an aluminum oil pan for EX models only, which does not use a traditional silicone gasket. If your model is an EX go to your local Honda dealer and buy a tube of HondaBond and apply as directed.
