Ford is hardening its wares for the competitive off-road segment with the introduction of the new Tremor package for its Super Duty pickup trucks, the brand’s answer to Ram’s Power Wagon and GMC’s Sierra HD AT4.
The Tremor package will be offered as soon as the Super Duty F-250 and F-350 pickup trucks are released for the 2020 model year. It is also expected to boost the sales of America’s best-selling vehicles even further.
Among the upgrades included in the Tremor package are a crew cab, lifted suspension, as well as a set of 35-inch flotation size Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires, which Ford claims to be the largest diameter tires offered on a heavy-duty pickup.

Tremor-equipped F-250s and F-350s will also come with 18-inch wheels, plus a 2-inch front-end lift and a shorter air dam that allows 10.8 inches of ground clearance.
For a much-improved off-road performance, the package also offers 33-inch water-fording capability, helping drivers plow through puddles with ease, while supposedly also having the best approach and departure angles among all Super Duty trucks in 31.6 degrees and 24.5 degrees, respectively.
The sought-after add-on will be available on the XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum trims of both F-250 and F-350, making it an even tougher competition for Ford’s rivals in the truck segment.
In terms of powertrains, the Tremor is rumored to have the all-new 7.3-liter gas V8, while the 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel is an option.
But while these inclusions make Ford a tough opponent to handle, the absence of a winch and a disconnecting sway bar somehow gives room for the Ram to steal the spotlight. These missing features, however, do not seem to be a big deal for Ford as it emphasizes that the brand’s Super Duty trucks will be retaining their “outstanding towing and payload capacity.”
All remains to be seen when Ford releases the Tremor package along with the 2020 F-250 and F-350 trucks later this year.
