A year away from its official arrival in dealership lots, the highly anticipated Ford Mustang Mach E has already made at least a dozen headlines. Following the model’s unveiling at the recent Los Angeles Auto Show and the eventual selling out of its First Edition, the electric SUV is again causing a stir as it is reportedly winning over owners of another Ford bestseller, the F-150.
Although longtime Mustang owners were initially skeptical when an electric version was announced, the general impression seemed to have changed when Bill Ford was won over by the Mach-E prototype during a test drive.
Given his stamp of approval, Ford dealerships are said to be noticing new customers taking interest in the upcoming model.

According to a report, the Mach-E has generated a lot of foot traffic despite Ford setting up a special website for pre-orders of the 2021 SUV.
“It’s been exciting for the store,” said Tim Hovik, owner and general manager of San Tan Ford in Arizona. Hovik has so far received 47 reservations for the Mach-E. “I’ve been doing this [for] 27 years, and you can kind of count, on one hand, the time we’ve dipped our toe into a completely new segment,” he added.
Hovik also shared that about two out of every three Mach-E reservations he has received are from completely new customers with whom he has never done business in the past.
One of these customers is Travis Myrick from Glendale, Arizona, who currently has a Mustang and an F-150 in his garage. Myrick said he took an interest in EVs after driving a friend’s Tesla, but ruled the brand out due to reported issues with its service department.
“It’s going to be basically half the price of a Tesla, and I’ve got to think the technology is going to be better,” he said. “I honestly think it looks better. To me, it seems like a perfect fit.” This is in addition to the fact that he likes the Mach-E for being fast and more environmentally friendly than the two Ford models he already has.
Since the model made its online debut, Ford says the vehicle’s main web page has been visited by at least 1.6 million people. The company has not revealed how many pre-orders it has received so far, but it appears like the Mach-E is already a hit for consumers.
