Yes it does really work. My 2002 pickup is hard to find parts that old this one is simpily carefully align the holding pegs in the right spots press until it snaps in and your done. That simple.

The compartment you're referring to comes with a piece of Velcro and I kind of assumed that it might be for travel Kleenex and you put the velcro adhesive to the bottom side of the kleenex box and then push it up into the compartment and that secures it from falling back out.

Actually, when you pry that console off the electronics and the related parts for the compass and temp. all remain hooked up. Simply just work and pry on the plastic part of the console it will eventually pop right off leaving all the other stuff hooked up and still working. Then the new plastic console snaps right back in. It took me all of five minutes to do the whole swap. Pretty neat operation and very simple.

Yes that is the truck I own. This is only the console, all of the electronics were there in the truck and operational. I plugged right in to the frame attached to my roof. No electronics in this unit.

Douglas, I personally can not specify any colors than grey which is what my vehicle required. The quality was spot on and it snapped in perfectly took less than ten minutes start to finish to replace. The quality is such that I can't see where if they don't have tan why you couldn't finish in a high quality tan paint.....Richard
