Question: How does this heat send unit connection hook up to the wire harness?Cliff D. / Feb 11, 2021
Hi Cliff, There is already a connector attached to the part, all you have to do is hook it up. Usually, the location of the coolant temperature sensor will be located directly behind the coolant pipe. it will be a pretty straight forward job.

Top center of the engine, green connector. 19 mm socket, take it out and put new in fast should not lose much coolant. New prob should come with new washer.

It is very easy to install. Unclip the wire connector, unscrew old sensor with a deep socket or just a wrench, screw in the new one with washer, hand tight with wrench, snap connector back on. But I will note that the one that I bought lasted only a year, I just had to replace it this month. It sent error codes flying saying the voltage was too low or temperature was very high when starting the car. I would spend a few dollars more for a name brand part.

Question: How does the car run without it?Addie P. / Dec 31, 2020
Hi Addie, I don't think it would be possible to run the car without it. The sensor works with the vehicle's ECU, continually monitoring the coolant temperature to make sure the engine is running at the optimum temperature. To get an accurate reading of the current engine temperature, the ECU sends a regulated voltage to the Coolant Temperature Sensor.

I'm afraid I don't have a good answer for you. It turns out that my problem was a stuck thermostat that caused the original radiator to overheat and burst. I bought this along with a replacement radiator hoping the sensor was the problem and since it is so inexpensive it seemed like a good idea to get a new one. If everything else in the car was running fine and this sensor did stop working then I imagine you would have bad temperature problems since your ECU would not know when to turn on the radiator cooling fan. Cheers.
