Original issue:
- Blower motor worked intermittently. Slowly but surely, the motor stopped working all together (this was a period of months). I have a 2008 Audi A3.
The good:
- This replacement motor works as it should.
- Price is right (if it lasts).
The bad:
- The quality is questionable. The motor itself is a different design, and ever so slightly louder.
- The plastic housing doesn’t create a perfect seal like the OEM. I would say possibly 5-10% of the air flow leaks by. A thin piece of foam or some sealant would do the trick, but if the motor fails I want it to be removable without a hassle personally.
- One screw hole for the automatic temp sensor does not tighten down, but the screw doesn’t pull out either. Other screw hole tightens down fine. You could use super glue, but again I want things to come apart if necessary.
All in all, about what one should expect when not replacing OEM with OEM. If it lasts even two years, I’m happy. Anything less and I would’ve preferred to buy OEM. I do hope it lasts at least half as long as the original though.
