Question: How do you program the ecm?Mike H. / Oct 16, 2022 / 2001 Chevrolet AstroEngine Control Module - Requires Programming, Direct Fit
Hi Mike, thank you for reaching out. Some of the steps to program the engine control module (ECM) includes connecting the computer to the vehicle diagnostic port. Then, open the software to detect the vehicle. Then, select the option to program the ECM. For more details, we suggest you refer to a vehicle-specific manual for the instructions. We highly suggest you bring the vehicle to a professional mechanic to program the ECM. You can use this link to go back to the item page and continue ordering the part at 34% off the regular price today: https://www.carparts.com/engine-control-module/ac-delco/ac21812742?can=CPAP3648_CSQA_20221016 I hope this helps. Question: Does this control the abs and traction control?Tom / Nov 27, 2024 / 2001 Chevrolet AstroEngine Control Module - Requires Programming, Direct Fit
Hi Tom, I am pleased to assist you. The ECM does not directly control the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) or traction control. Instead, these systems are typically managed by separate control modules. The ECM communicates with the ABS module for overall vehicle performance and safety, but it does not have the capability to control these systems independently. The ABS is usually governed by an ABS control module, which is specifically designed to handle the functions related to braking and traction management. I suggest calling our parts specialists at 1-866-529-0412 (live agent assistance) during office hours to provide the complete vehicle information so we can help you look for the right part. Have a nice day!

Question: Hello ,I have a Chevy Silverado LS 5.3. #8 cylinder misfires continually and the misfire jumps to #7#3#1 enough to show on the ECM readout. 4 different shop said it was internal. since the motor had high miles it was about the same to replace the motor rather than do a valve job. unfortunately the misfire continues. #8 gets fuel as do the others. its running very lean. Injectors have been replaced as well as the fuel rails. Coil packs nd wires have been swapped around on the plugs. Have taken it to a shop that actually called tech support and still no one is sure of what's going on. I am more and more convinced its the ECM. Have you come across this before or have any ideas? The truck sat for several years in the elements so is it possible some moisture got into the ECM ??? At a total loss. ANy help would be appreciated.                                                                                    Thanks KevinKevin G. / Sep 18, 2022 / 2001 Chevrolet AstroEngine Control Module - Requires Programming, Direct Fit
Hi Kevin, I'm glad to assist you. The ECM may be already bad. But, our input is not 100% accurate since it is hard to simply assume based on the details provided. It is your option if you want to try to replace your ECM. It may also require flashing and programming. Grab our lowest price offer and click the link below to buy today.
