The tank looks like the original but it seems to be a little taller, I had to use a longer bolt to get straps to fit. And the straps did not go all the way to the frame.

Answered by Kenneth M. / Sun, Jul 25Question: We have a 2003 Ford F150 with an extended cab and a 5.4 Triton motor. The existing fuel tank was rotted out so my son ordered a replacement on line about 8 months ago. Took the bed off and removed the old tank with in tank pump. Went to install the new tank and found that the depth of the new tank is deeper than the original equipment tank. From the pump flange to the bottom of the tank on the original tank is approximately 11 1/4". On the new tank the distance from flange to bottom of tank is approximately 13 1/4". Obviously a difference of 2". So any replacement pump I have looked at is too short to reach the bottom of the tank. I am assuming that might be a problem. Hello! I'm not seeing a different part number for a fuel pump that fits in the larger tank, but I would contact your local Ford dealership to confirm that your original fuel pump will work.

Answered by Mitchell D. / Tue, Aug 16I also noticed that because I was unable to put tank guard back on. But the fuel gauge never crossed my mind. I guess when it says empty I have a few extra gallons in there, nothing wrong with that, was going to use shims for the guard bolts.
