Very impressed with how my intake manifold was shipped in a plastic container inside of a cardboard box put it on I'm not sure if it's solved my problem

Hi Kristina, thanks for initiating contact. The valve on the side of this intake manifold is most likely the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve. This valve controls the amount of exhaust gas that is recirculated back into the engine for combustion. It often has a distinctive shape and is connected to hoses and pipes.
