Hi Grace,
The fan clutch is actuated by the thermostat once temperature from the engine rises, the clutch engages so that the fan is driven by engine power and moves air to cool the engine.The thermostat regulates the flow of coolant/water via the water pump. The water pump sucks the coolant from the engine and pump it to the radiator for cooling.
