Hi Artie, I don't know specifically about your Olds, but in most vehicles, the oil and gen lamps come on when the key is first turned on as a lamp check. As long as they go off after you start the vehicle, you should be fine. I put it on a 1959 Chevy truck that had a 350 motor in it so I do not have a light So can’t really answer your question.
