The cast iron assembly does not have a grove for the ABS sensor to protrude through. The back plate and cast iron would need to be drilled through to make it work with the abs sensors. The e brake assembly, as the brake pads and springs and brake assembly are interchangeable. Your bad mechanic likely removed the whole assembly since similar to my 97 grand 4.0, the whole assembly rusted and was imoperable.
