replaced OEMFront, Driver Or Passenger Side Shock, Rs5000X Series
4.0/5
Just finished the replacement of shocks on my 2004 Wrangler Sport with 42000 miles. Found it very difficult to remove OEM front shocks...ended up having to cut them out. Manufactures shock do not have any means to remove the top nut once it gets rusted in place.....but what I expected from an OEM product. Was very happy to see that these Rancho shocks have a secondary nut for easier removal. Once the front shocks were off, it was very easy to install Rancho shocks. OEM back shocks were a bit easy to remove and replace. Very disappointed with Rancho and how they chose to manufacture and package product. Rubber shock boot come seperate from shock in same box. Which means you need to install the shock boot before installing the shocks. Not so hard to install the boot for the front shocks...near impossible to install shock boot on rear shocks. The top mount gets in the way of installing the shock boot...thus I had to cut the boot in order to install the boot correctly...would have liked to have seen Rancho pre install the shock boot...After test drive, I found the shocks to be very stable. Most of my driving is on road with occasional off-road stints. I found the roughest stretch of pavement to test the shocks. With OEM shocks I had to travel the road at less than 20mph or the Jeep would bounce around. Went down road at 30mph with no trouble. Only time will tell as to how these shocks hold up.

Question: I just bought these. Will these fit on a stock jk?Marco E. / Sep 14, 2020
Hi Marco, In as much as I would want to help you, I do not have the complete vehicle information to work on. For accuracy of fitment, please follow the guidelines below: To check the fitment please use our Vehicle Selector — which can be found towards the top of the homepage as well as all categories, search results, and product pages — can help verify if a part will fit your specific application. To enter your application, simply select your vehicle’s year, make, model, sub-model, and engine type and click “Go.” Once your application is selected, you’ll see a “Guaranteed to Fit” badge if the part will fit, and we recommend that you also double-check Your Vehicle Fit Details as well as the Vehicle Fitment Information table on the product page.
